I purchased these gates Pet Parade Folding Pet Gate not to hold back my 16 lb. dog, but just to let her know a certain area was off limits. She is well behaved enough to understand barriers. But nonetheless, I did find these gates to be very poorly made, lacking in quality and the stain WILL rub off on clothing, walls, etc. I was playing with my dog and a small plastic ball hit one of the upright rods and it just snapped and broke into two pieces. After taking a closer look, we noticed many knots in the wood making many weak points - which is exactly how & where the break was made in the rod that was hit. Also, the gates (yes, we purchased 2) are warped and will not stay steady on a flat surface - they did better on carpeted area.We tried contacting the seller with our complaints and received no response after several attempts. Amazon stepped in via their A-Z Guarantee and we were reimbursed. Thank You Amazon - one of the many reasons we continue to shop with Amazon - they stand behind the products they sell and give great customer service.In closing, I can only suggest you DO NOT BUY these gates. They truly are poorly made and are not good for even small pets and definitely should not be used with children.

This is a very, very lightweight gate that folds nicely for storage when not in use. It probably would not work too well if your dog would be inclined to "challenge" the gate as it is so lightweight and is free-standing.

This gate is very lightweight, so not a good choice for a big dog, or a dog who is likely to try to get out. However, for our purpose, our dog is small (schnoodle) and she is quite passive, so when she sees there is a gate, she does not try to get out. Because the gate is lightweight, it is easy to move and manuver, and is wider than most "baby" gates, so it works well in areas with a wider opening than a doorway. It folds, so stores easily and is not heavy. This would not be a good gate for a baby who would try to pull up on it. Overall, good gate for the money.
