Ok until your dog shreds it.

I loved this gate because it is tall and able to be totally out of the way. Unfortunately it didn't last. My 12 lb. dog wasn't able to jump it (like most gates) but he was able to get under it, but once we realized it had to be tightened as far as it would click, he was kept in. He then was able to shred it. I contacted the company and they said they couldn't do anything for me. See the photos I've posted of the damage. Too bad the company can't stand by thier claims.

This product works great. Super easy to install in less than 20 minutes with electric screw driver for the mount. However the mesh screen doesn't last. It started to separate from the end seam. I don't think they sell replacement mesh screen. I just wish it was more durable.

I bought two of these gates for my kitchen area they were purchased in May and the locking feature has already broken on them. This was a horrible purchase and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. I will stick to regular gates.

Great Gate!

I bought this for my 11 month old. It has lots of install options. Comes with hardware for two banisters, two walls, or banister-wall. The bansiter mount is great! You can get it very tight. Uses strong velcro straps with a locking buckle. There is even a hex screw to tighten the strap even more. The wall side has mounting options for with or without baseboard. I used the with baseboard option. That uses the three plastic mounts with three screws for the metal bar. The gate hinge side can be installed on banister or wall side. It is easy to change after it is installed. Gate swings both ways. I installed it at an angle, no problems. It is a very sturdy metal gate. I'll upload some pics soon.Only con was the instructions suck.

decent, but attachments not really made for metal railing

The gate seems reasonable for our purpose at the bottom of the stairs, and our young one hasn't come close to dislodging it or getting past it, but it's only been a day or two. The release mechanism will hopefully turn out to be child-proof enough when closed -- it requires pinching two separate pieces together, and then lifting the weight of the gate about 1/2 inch up well, for the physicists, the moment required to lift by one corner when the other is the fulcrum, so say half the weight). It is easy to get it jammed open accidentally if you are too aggressive when you open the gate, but that also seems easy to unjam.However, part of the reason I chose it is because there were pictures showing attachment to very thin poles/bannister.The special attachments they provide, based on velcro'ing around the pole, only work with a large diameter pole (say at least 3+ inches).We have a metal railing that is about an inch-square in cross section. To make this work we had to jury-rig all of the attachment pieces they provided to effectively make the pole much fatter. See pictures added to the product pictures list. It seems secure now, but not by their great design.This is essentially because they provide a very long piece of velcro with only a short section of hooks at the end, and no way to shorten the other end. So the only way the hooks can grip anything is if the pole is fat enough to use up the whole length of velcro as it goes around. Our metal railing, or a 1-inch round pole, would give no way for this to happen.

Good, not great

I had a really difficult time finding a baby gate that met our needs - top of the stairs, swings open and not automatic, could attach to banister without drilling, and could attach to wall with molding. This was one of three that I found. It took my engineer husband a looong time to install and though he has done so properly it seems the banister side has to constantly be tightened or it slips loose enough that it's wobbly. I do like you can open it and leave it open - nice for bringing in groceries or when baby is down for a nap. It can be opened and shut with one hand while holding baby, just takes coordination and a lot of practice.All that said, we bought a second one for our third floor ( 3 story townhouse ). I would recommend it to those who need a gate with the same criteria. If you are not as picky I'm sure there is a better gate out there.**** Update ****We bought a third one (again, bc we needed one with this criteria) and the product arrived with all the parts but clearly had been used. The pieces showed marks from being installed previously. We still installed it and its fine, but I was unhappy about it. Also- this week the first gate had a piece break off...

A simple, one hand adult release opens the center walk through door in either direction while the U shaped frame remains firmly in place. A special gauge, included with the gate, tests for recommended pressure. Constructed of furniture grade wood, the G35 is designed to complement wood interiors. Basic gate fits openings 28in 36in. It stands 29'½in high. Space between the bars range from approx. 2in to 2.25in. This gate works with Model G5.5 5'½in Optional Extension Kit. You will need: One Optional Extension kit for openings 35'¾in 41'½in Two Optional Extension kits for openings 41'¼in 47in No more than two extension kits per gate.

Finally a gate that works!

I had purchased several gates before this one and had to return them all because none of them would stand securely between our wall (which is not perfectly even) and the staircase post. Though this gate ... definitely "cost" more ... than the others...it works!...and there are some things (like my son's safety and our peace of mind) that you just can't attach a dollar figure to. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Features that I most like:1. The gate is pressure mounted (no need to drill holes in our wall or staircase post).2. It is secure (even with constant opening and closing, as well as my son's persistent pulling, the gate stays securely mounted).3. The gate has this additional safety feature that if you forget to lock the gate after opening, it semi-locks, which does not allow the gate door to swing open.4. easy to mount and use!

WONDERFUL product

We initially bought this gate in January when we were put our house on the market (to sell) and wanted to keep our 3 dogs off the carpeted areas. While somewhat pricey compared to the other gates on the market, we liked that it was both pressure mounted and could be adapted to work on the spindles on stairs (haven't tried that yet). For about $... the extensions are also pricey, but again, the pressure mounting (which doesn't move if installed properly) is great. It's easy to use once you get the hang of it (a couple of tries) but can be a little tricky in poor lighting getting the bracket that keeps it secure in place on the bottom. The fact that is swings either way is nice as well. Once it's locked down, our 17 month old can't get it open, but if it's not secured properly, she is able move the gate without lifting it and the inner workings of the hinge mechanism seem to be wearing down somewhat. Other than those minor issues, it's a great product. She tries to climb, but can't at this point. We're getting ready to purchase another one for our new house so we have one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom - both for our daughter and the dogs! :)

I checked on the Kido website (kidcoinc.com) and this model fits openings 28" to 36" wide. An optional extension kit exists which measures 5.5" (available on this webiste). The gate plus extensions can be combined for a maximum length of 47".

great dog gate

I got the extra tall thinking my dogs wouldn't jump it but I was wrong. So it can only provide discouragement from other rooms but if you have jumpers they can get over it if motivated. I will say the are very sturdy and tolerate with them standing up with paws on top without budging. It will work top keep them from going upstairs to bother the cats because they would have to jump over it from the stairs to a short landing.

Dog gate

I purchased this gate to keep the dogs (one large, one small) off the new carpeting we had installed. It has worked out great since neither can jump over it. The only Con to this gate is you have to lift it up to open it which is not a problem for most of us but my elderly mother was unable to open it on her own. It can be left ajar so it doesn't have to be lifted which fortunatley the dogs don't know. It has worked out great for our purpose. Very easy to install.

We love our fur kids and they have always had full run of the house, but the kitchen posed problems. I never wanted to put up a gate that we had to swing our legs over, and one like that would not have contained my large dogs anyway. Besides, who wants an ugly plastic or wooden gate in between 2 beautiful rooms???Enter the Dreambaby Extra Tall Swing Closed Hallway Security Gate, Black. My dogs love to sleep on the floor in whatever room I am in at the time. The kitchen posed great problems because they would lay down behind me while at the counter and I would turn around and trip over them. There was also great danger of scalding to all of us, when I would take a boiling hot pot off of the cooktop and run over a dog. We had several very close calls.This gate has changed everything. Placed between our family room and the kitchen, the dogs can see me either through the gate or over the countertop at the bar, and they are happy. We are all safe from falls and burns. An unexpected plus for me is that I can have some *me* time in the kitchen without my constant companions. Who knew?The gate is good looking and very sturdy. We will never need another. Expect it to last.From the time I opened the box, until I had it installed, was 10 minutes. The only assembly was inserting the screw-type bumpers that affix the gate with pressure against the walls. My opening is 39-1/2 inches, and there are baseboards at the bottom. It would have fit had the opening been slightly larger or smaller. The doorway dimensions given in the description are spot-on. The baseboards did not prevent a secure fit at the bottom.I have uploaded a couple of photos of my crew behind the gate. Take a look and see how it might look in your home. I am beyond happy with this purchase. Wish I had done it years ago!

Very nice, but no match for a determined puppy

Overall this is a very nice gate. It looks great, is well built, and is easy to install. And while I like the look of the wood portion of the gate, it unfortunately is a bad idea for puppies or dogs of any age that like to chew or are determined to get out. Within three weeks my 4 month old Beagle had chewed and broke his way through it. So I had to replace it with a gate made solely of metal.

Best gate I've ever owned

I ordered this gate and just received it today. I cannot begin to say how much I love it. It was simple to install and it is very solid.I have two chihuahuas, one of which is a climber so I needed a gate that she couldn't climb. The problem I found with most gates is that the bars are too far apart so she could either squeeze through or get her little head stuck. This gate is perfect because the bars are very close together.I have already recommended this gate to several people and will continue to do so!!

I love this gate!

My husband and I bought 2 of these gates for our new puppy and I love them!! I relish not having to take down a gate or try to step over them (which isn't fun for someone short ;). And this gate is stylish (is that possible? ;). I would recommend this gate to anyone. Yes, it's pricey (I had my doubts), but after a couple of weeks, I love it!!!! Buy it! You can't go wrong!
