I have a split level house and it was really hard to find a baby gate that blocked off the stairs going upstairs and downstairs. Using this extension with the dreambaby gate has been a life saver! I just set it up so I'm hoping my twin toddlers can't knock it down. I pushed and pulled on it and it seems very secure. Great buy for large halls and wide stairs! Definitely the widest pressure mounted gate on the market.Edit: we've had this gate for 6 months now and the boys still haven't torn it down. They have gotten through it twice by sheer chance, but they still don't know how they did it which is fine by me! Sometimes they will stand in front of it and both shake it as hard as they can to try to get past it, but it's solid construction keeps it up. They will even put boxes under it to try to climb over, but still haven't made it yet. The boys are 20 months old now and I'm hoping we get at least 6 more months out of the gate before they figure out how to open it. Definitely a must have for wide openings around stairs!!

To make our gate fit at the top of our staircase, the only answer was finally to add one of these and anchor securely to a nearby wall. Inconvenient but it worked. The extensions are well made and pair well with the gate. .
