We have a westie terrier who is confined to our kitchen area right now and needed a gate to block a wide 70" space. I was a little worried ordering this that it would be flimsy or that the dog would be able to push it out of the way.This gate did the trick! If you have to have a gate in place, this one looks really nice. Its tall enough that the dog can't jump over it, but the kids can step over it easily. The legs are long enough and have a non-skid foot that prevents the dog from moving the gate. He's about 10-12 lbs., still just a puppy really, and hasn't gotten past it once. The gate also extends easily to fill the space we needed. It was easy to assemble and best of all I didn't have to drill any holes in our walls or anything.I spent a good week or more digging through reviews of pet gates trying to find something that worked. Finally took a chance on this one. If you find yourself in that position, order this gate with full confidence.

I have gone through several pressure gates as well as free standing gates prior to settling upon the Richell Freestanding Pet Gate.My issues with pressure or wall mounted gates lie in the fact that I have an enlarged opening to my living room. These gates advertise that they fit that width with extension pieces but those extension pieces add instability to gate or create a "cheap" looking gate in an area that commands visual attention.The Richell is a visually appealing gate. It is stable for a free standing gate. I ordered the extra-large gate as I have three labradors I attempted to keep separated. This gate is high enough that they do not job yet low enough for me to step over. The weight is not too terribly much and so most times I slide the gate to the side to walk into the room.My only issue lies in the fact the gates wood is cracked in several sections. I am not sure if it is a quality issue or just how Amazon ships these gates as the metallic pressure/wall-mounted gates I ordered in the past came with bent pieces from shipment. I guess the oversized package and its awkwardness must make it difficult for UPS to transport. The gate was a synch to put together and has held up well through several months of use now.Overall, a great product. It does the job and does it well. Visually appealing and, even with the wood cracking in several areas, the gates durability to everyday use is holding up well. Worth the extra money I had to spring for this gate (At triple the cost of other gates)

I bought this high gate in the small and large sizes to keep our cats away from certain doors. I put it by our front door so it would make it harder for them to even think of running out when we opened the door. It is easy for adults to step over. So far the cats haven't even tried to jump them. I like that they are adjustable and solid and very nice looking.
