Product worked well for the first three month until the button to operate the handle fell off. I emailed and left voicemails to Cardinal customer service and they have not had the common courtesy to respond once. I will never buy a cardinal product again.

We just purchased two of these auto-locking pressure gates. They went up easily, though I wouldn't want to move them very often. What we found is, as the instructions state, you need to tighten the lower pressure feet and then tighten the upper pressure feet until the gate latches easily. If you over-tighten, the gate will not close or latch easily or at all, depending upon how tight you make it. If you don't tighten it enough, then the latch will not catch--you much have the proper tightness to push the latch together. This is not hard to achieve, but you may need to play with it a bit.To achieve the automatic closing, you will have to tip the gate slightly so that the door wants to swing shut; however, the instructions state that you need to push the door shut. The gates are pretty much what you would expect from step-through baby/pet gates.The one complaint I do have is that the lower latch gets stuck a bit since it is simply a weight that falls into a little cavity. To overcome this, you have to properly work the lock (push button and pull back the latch) and then slightly lift the gate. This prevents the gate from opening smoothly, but it is only a small thing.For now, I like them. They seem very sturdy and should stand up to ramming from the Tonka trucks (this has destroyed several other gates). If they do not live up to my expectations, I will be back to update.Update: After a month of using these, I am less than pleased with them. We won't be returning them because they're our best option at this point, but they're a pain to use. In order to get the gates tight enough to stay up, you have to tighten the feet to the point where it makes the gate difficult to open. The entire process of opening the gate is impossible or almost impossible to do with one hand. Oh, and our kids can still shake them down if they want to. Thankfully, they aren't generally intent on that, but when they do shake them, the "soft" rubber feet take paint off of our door frames.We will not be buying more of these gates and will recommend against them. I downgraded my star rating from a 4 to a 3.

The gate appears to be well built, except for the fact that it does not automatically close and lock as the product description suggests. The gate does close on it's own, but it does not close with enough force to lock itself. It requires that you give it and extra push to fully close and lock the gate.
