Yes, it's clear

This is a great product and, yes, it is clear, that is it is see-through, just like the picture.It comes with a protective plastic that makes it look opaque, but you simply remove the plastic and it's totally clear.It's a versatile product. I actually used it on spiral stairs.

works, but doesn't look great

This product works for what it's intended for, but it really doesn't look great. You have to punch holes in it with a provided hole punch, then use zip-ties to secure it your banister spindles. I really am not crazy about the way they look. Also, it needs to be screwed in at the ends. In our case, this is a wall on one side, and into the woodwork at the other end. I'm not happy about having to put screws in the woodwork, but the other railing net we'd bought had the same solution. So it's not just this product. The clear plastic shows finger prints really easily. All in all, I'm not thrilled, but I haven't found any better options.

Install was a breeze

We were looking for a good product to cover banister railings and this did the trick. I had read several of the previous reviews that said installation was tedious and difficult. My wife and I installed 15 ft in less than two hours. I did find the hole punch useless but we used a variable speed drill with a 1/4 in drill bit and it cut installation time considerably. The product is durable and crystal clear (just remember to take off the protective film first). You do not need carpentry skills to do this.

Gate extension FTW

My child is now moving everywhere and I needed a gate that was long enough to fit in a large doorway. My parents already had a gate and I was able to buy this extension to make that gate fit just right.It was a little frustrating when putting together all the extensions because they kept popping out of place. Since our gate was so long it was a 2 man job holding all the extensions in place while maneuvering the gate into place. But once the gate was in place and tightened to the wall the problems of the extension popping out of place went away.

These extensions are great. Although, I have read that you can go up to about 12 feet in span, I have also read that the span is limited to about 6 feet. Not sure what the real story is but for a wider doorway or hallway, this is great. See my other Bindaboo gate reviews.

Terrible product with NO customer service.

Product worked well for the first three month until the button to operate the handle fell off. I emailed and left voicemails to Cardinal customer service and they have not had the common courtesy to respond once. I will never buy a cardinal product again.

Works Nicely

We just purchased two of these auto-locking pressure gates. They went up easily, though I wouldn't want to move them very often. What we found is, as the instructions state, you need to tighten the lower pressure feet and then tighten the upper pressure feet until the gate latches easily. If you over-tighten, the gate will not close or latch easily or at all, depending upon how tight you make it. If you don't tighten it enough, then the latch will not catch--you much have the proper tightness to push the latch together. This is not hard to achieve, but you may need to play with it a bit.To achieve the automatic closing, you will have to tip the gate slightly so that the door wants to swing shut; however, the instructions state that you need to push the door shut. The gates are pretty much what you would expect from step-through baby/pet gates.The one complaint I do have is that the lower latch gets stuck a bit since it is simply a weight that falls into a little cavity. To overcome this, you have to properly work the lock (push button and pull back the latch) and then slightly lift the gate. This prevents the gate from opening smoothly, but it is only a small thing.For now, I like them. They seem very sturdy and should stand up to ramming from the Tonka trucks (this has destroyed several other gates). If they do not live up to my expectations, I will be back to update.Update: After a month of using these, I am less than pleased with them. We won't be returning them because they're our best option at this point, but they're a pain to use. In order to get the gates tight enough to stay up, you have to tighten the feet to the point where it makes the gate difficult to open. The entire process of opening the gate is impossible or almost impossible to do with one hand. Oh, and our kids can still shake them down if they want to. Thankfully, they aren't generally intent on that, but when they do shake them, the "soft" rubber feet take paint off of our door frames.We will not be buying more of these gates and will recommend against them. I downgraded my star rating from a 4 to a 3.

Works OK.... doesn't autolock as product description suggests

The gate appears to be well built, except for the fact that it does not automatically close and lock as the product description suggests. The gate does close on it's own, but it does not close with enough force to lock itself. It requires that you give it and extra push to fully close and lock the gate.

Versatile and durable

We purchased this gate for an odd sized opening, because it is expandable. It attaches to both sides of the opening so you open it on either side. We have the gate in a very high traffic opening, and it is not only easy to open and close, but has stood up to the bigger kids going in out. In the evening when the kids go to sleep, we simply unlatch both sides and set it off to the side. I love it so much, I'm buying 2 more to replace those pitiful pressure mounted gates we have. Works well to keep the dog contained from the baby area also. Quality, durable product. I definitely recommend it. Target is the only place I have found this gate.

A great gate

I purchased this gate for a the opening into my kitchen. It is an odd caddy corner shaped opening. The gate was easy to install and works great. We purchased it to keep my 8 month old son from crawling into the kitchen to eat the dog's food! He is almost 2 now and we still use it to keep him out of the kitchen. He has never pinched a finger or any other part of his body. My 5 year old is able to open and shut it with ease. It is very durable and his withstood my son shaking it back an forth. I guess you could say it is kid tested and mother approved.

Very versatile yet inexpensive.

First the gate is Assembled in the USA. The design of the gate is rather simple which makes it very versatile. The gate is symmetrical and once the four eye bolts (or eye screws) are installed, either side of the gate can be detached for swinging in both directions. The latches for the top eye bolts (it just sets on the bottom eye bolts) are a little finicky. This is both good (harder for toddlers to open the gate) and bad (if you have to race to answer the phone). The top rail is plastic and telescopes when the gate is expanded. The directions say to screw the eye bolts into the wall at 6" & 24" above the floor, I would recommend adding 1/2" to 1" to that so that it may clear an uneven floor or carpet. The bolts may need those self drilling plastic anchors if the gate is being mounted to drywall with no stud behind it. In general, it feels like a quality made gate and the price with free shipping is right.Also, If the gate is not left swinging free (fixed in place or removed and put away), it shouldn't be a danger to little ones as the diamond openings are actually rather small and fixed when the gate is latched.
